Meet Dynavyte Elite Rider Ross Smith

In November this year, Ross and his horse Carinya (pictured top left) won the Australian International 3 Day Event, IRT Jumping with the Stars on the iconic Adelaide Main Arena.

Ross is a Kiwi and boasts an impressive history as both an upper lever show jumper and event rider

Ross’s passion is identifying hidden talents, and producing and training horses for the international market. His wealth of knowledge and experience has seen him produce a number of extremely successful equestrian horses, including many Olympic mounts. He can spot raw talent and skill in a horse. Scouting for talented youngsters who have the potential to excel at an elite level is a top priority for his clients.

Ross is also a farrier and instructor, traveling to New Zealand every 6 weeks to teach clients, and source the best horses.

We hear from Ross:

“We grew up riding horses before we could walk, lived in the country in North Canterbury in the South island of NZ where we had ponies and rode all through our junior years competing at pony club level and also ESNZ competitions."

"When I left school I rode hacks and competed all over NZ up to the Grand Prix level in showjumping and Advanced level in eventing."

"In the mid nineties I decided to go to the USA and ride and work. It was there that I achieved some very good results and rode at some amazing venues. I won the Lone Star Grand Prix in Dallas Texas and was placed in several other major GP classes all over the USA. I was also extremely lucky to qualify to ride a horse at Madison Square Gardens in New York which was the biggest indoor show in America."

Where can you find Ross?

"On returning from the USA I have based out of Australia and New Zealand doing the showjumping seasons in both countries. In 2013 my wife Mel and I sat down and made a family decision to base permanently in Australia."

"We have bought a place in conjunction with her brother Matthew (Gaske) and his wife Ashleigh in Kalbar Qld, which is set up as the training and sales establishment, Rangeview Equestrian."
