Successfully transitioning feedlot lambs

The transition from a high fibre diet to a high grain diet is the most vulnerable time for feedlot lambs to lactic acidosis. The MBS induction ration is meant to facilitate this transition allowing the rumen bacteria to gradually change profile to accommodate the higher grain ration.

Lactobacilli spp. and Bifidobacteria are some of the most important microbes that need to increase in population to digest the lactic acid and control lactic acidosis.

Dynavyte MicroBiome Support contains Bacillus subtilis ‘Natto’ at a new improved concentration greater than 1 x 10⁸/litre. Scientific research has shown that Bacillus subtilis ‘Natto’ promotes the growth of Lactobacilli spp. and Bifidobacteria.

A pilot study with feedlot lambs administered Dynavyte MicroBiome Support at the inclusion rate of 10 litres per tonne of feed as fed produced no clinical acidosis and no ill-thrift was seen. This inclusion rate may be useful as the lambs that consume more grain are going to consume a larger volume of Dynavyte MicroBiome Support with the benefits of promoting good gut bacteria and inhibiting the bad microbes.

This same inclusion rate is recommended for the final 3 days in the feedlot prior to transportation. Dynavyte MicroBiome Support may assist with the stress and digestive upsets associated with the transportation away from the feedlot.
