Antioxidants and their properties.
Deactivate free radicals that are the by-products of oxidative processes within cells. These chemicals cause damage to various parts of the cells. Therefore, antioxidants minimise the damage caused to the cells from these by-products of metabolism.
Excessive amounts of free radicals cause oxidative damage that can interfere with normal cell function.
Ferulic esters may be up to 4 times more potent in preventing tissue oxidation than Vitamin E.
